Members of the Month: Sarah and Sarah!

Sophomore and Speech Pathology major, Sarah Barton has been a member of Alpha Lambda Delta since the past fall semester. While she’s only had a few months to get involved, she jumped right in!

“I chose to join ALD because it was a way to help the community I live in and also connect me with other students from Western that have the same academic drive as me,” Sarah said. “I am proud to be a member of a group that is known for doing so much good for the community and being so strong academically.”

While she’s been helping out with a number of events, her favorite has been the Pulsera Project bracelet sales. “It was amazing to see all the detail put into the bracelets themselves and also being able to know that every bracelet purchased was going to help someone in need,” Sarah said.

Not only is Sarah a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, but she’s also a member of NSSLHA, or the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.

Because Sarah has been so active with volunteering and attending meetings, she’s been nominated as one of our February Members of the Month! We’re all certain she’s doing amazing things here at Western Michigan University. Thank you for all the work you’ve done with Alpha Lambda Delta and congratulations, Sarah!

Sarah Philipp, sophomore and Speech-Language Pathology major has been a member of Alpha Lambda Delta since the 2015 Fall Semester. She’s receiving this honor because even though she’s only been with Alpha Lambda Delta for around three months, she has been incredibly active, cheerful and self-motivated.

“I decided to join ALD to not only expand my educational experiences, but also by personal and social experiences as well,” Sarah Said. “I am a proud to be a member because ALD is a group of people aspiring to be their best. ALD members stand out from the crowd and are leaders in various ways. I am proud to surround myself with these people that continuously inspire each other, and the people around them.”

Sarah has been seen at quite a few Alpha Lambda Delta events over the last few months, but her favorite event has been the selling of Pulsera Project bracelets. “It was rewarding for me to know that I was supporting the people that made the bracelets, and making their lives a bit brighter,” Sarah said.

Not only is she an active member of Alpha Lambda Delta, but she’s also  a current member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and an officer for the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Sarah’s positive attitude and caring personality has led to this honor she’s receiving. We’re certain she’s going to do great things. Thank you for all your hard work and congratulations, Sarah!
